Wow it's been a long time since I have done one of these posts! In fact since I've done any blog post!! I had a temping job that was originally for 4 weeks which was then extended to 6 weeks and was an hours drive each way. This meant that I was too knackered to do anything at all other than eat, shower and sleep :). Although I enjoyed working there and the people were lovely, I am glad that I never have to do the 65 mile round trip again!
Back to my week in review, it started off well and I had some plans on what I hoped to do that week but then they got buggered up towards the end when my Mum phoned on Thursday to tell me that Louis had became unwell and that it didn't look good. I then had to make the horrible decision to have him put to sleep. :(
I was all set for a lie in on Monday morning since I no longer had to get up at 545am but Ben had other ideas and decided to meow like a foghorn. In my face. At 515am. Obviously this racket woke me up to the point I could not get back to sleep again! This pic certainly describes Ben!!
After my early morning
cat alarm call I decided to get up and change my living room decor from Spring to Summer. Now you may think that I am sad for doing this (my Mum will totally agree with you as she has told me that herself!) but I like to change my decor every season as it stops me from getting bored of the same look all year round. The green is gone and replaced with plum/purple accessories that I put out for Summer.
Tuesday was the day we had our follow up appointment at the IVF clinic so we will be trying again either later on this year/start of next year as I start a new job this week and I'm not sure how soon I can book holidays and I will need to accrue some time off too.
Thursday morning my Mum called me to say that Louis hadn't eaten anything overnight, was really floppy and was wheezing. My Dad had taken him to the vet where Louis got two injections, an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory and was told to bring him back the next day. He already had an appointment booked in for the Friday anyway as he had to get his front teeth drilled down every four weeks as they would grow too long. I went round to their house and could see that he was wobbling around and wheezing, although he perked up when he saw me I knew that he wasn't going to get any better and keeping him going another day would be for my benefit and not his. The thought of him struggling for breath or having a seizure through the night upset me so much and I felt that the kindest thing to do would be to let him go. I booked the appointment for later on that afternoon.
I wasn't particularly in the mood to do anything for the rest of the week as I just felt miserable although I knew that one day he would no longer be here, he was ten years old after all, it still comes as a shock.
Have you ever had to make the decision to have your pet put to sleep?
